Waking up at 20m of depth
Last week I went for a challenge with Sandra and Peter, two of my diving buddies. My intention was to find out about the effect of starting every day with freediving early in the morning. So we committed to do this for 5 days in a row.
My days started at 4:30 am, I did my half hour yoga routine, a combination of the sun salutation, Kundalini Yoga kriyas and an 11 minutes Kundalini Yoga meditation. We met at lake Flückiger in the middle of Freiburg City and hit the water around 6:15 a.m. until 7 a.m. allowing approximately 5 - 7 dives each. The deepest spot of the lake is about 32m and a reliable depth to get is 20m. Visibility between 1.5m at the surface and 0 m at 20m.
Starting the day with intense focus, first with the yoga and then while diving, allows an intense experience of the moment, of my surroundings, of the people around me. And of my body while allowing myself to glide down to a depth of 20m in total darkness. And for me this is what life is really about, experiencing ourselves and this earth, as intense as possible. While writing this, the following quote from Eckhart Tolle comes to my mind:
“You are not IN the universe, you ARE the universe, an intrinsic part of it. Ultimately you are not a person, but a focal point where the universe is becoming conscious of itself. What an amazing miracle.” ― Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth
The effect was a very intense and I was very focused and present after our diving session. Which lasted approximately until noon. Then I usually got tired, due to the new sleeping rhythm and lack of sleep.
One really remarkable thing to me was how easy it felt to get up at such unusual hour. It was like jumping out of bed when I was a child at 5 in the morning, just to continue my most awesome Lego adventure as soon as possible! The combination to do something that I really love and passionate about, to start the day in "nature" while the city is still sleeping and with like minded people, is really fulfilling. And a great reminder, that doing the things we love and we are passionate about is the fuel to accomplish remarkable projects with grace!
If you had similar experiences how passion can drive your efforts and for the divers, how early dives influence your days, you are welcome to share!
